with the chance to travel widely, to meet new people and to enjoy
the warmth and camaraderie, that is so special to this service.
How to Equip
A giant organization like the Indian Navy then
has very specialized manpower needs - everything from professional
strategists and technocrats to pilots and logistics officer but
one imperative runs through this empire, the total loyalty and commitment
of its men backed by the solid managerial capabilities. For the
right candidate, the possibilities are endless.
The country quite belongs to the seas. To exploit
their full potential, we must maintain a powerful naval force protecting
our offshore. To meet the multi dimensional role requirements of
the Navy should require a talented and focused individual.

sea, in an operational ship or submarine. In the air, flying air,
flying aircraft as an integral part of the ships' weapon systems,
or carrying out search and rescue operations. On land at a Naval
Air Station or shore establishment, coordinating the activities
of the fleet, providing training, or managing technical support

a naval officer is not just a leader but also a highly trained specialist
and an effective executive.
An Executive Officer Cadre

able to turn them to your advantage. It is for this reason hat an
executive office alone can aspire to command a naval ship.
The officers are trained in sub- specializations

hydrography. One could also opt for the air or submarine arm. Within
the branch, your promotional chances are not affected by yours choice

training is imparted at Goa and Kochi.
Submarines
These high-tech war machines have awesome fire-
power, state of the art weapon and control systems, computer-controlled
machinery and have a very high standard of habitability. One major
responsibility of the submarines in peacetime is to train for war,
as effectively as possible, in the knowledge that this will contribute
to its prevention. If you successfully complete the rigorous training,
which is conducted at Visakhapatnam.
Engineer Officer
Modern warships, submarines and aircraft have high-tech engineering
equipment as well as steam, diesel or gas turbine propulsion. As
Engineer Officer, you could also get opportunities to work in the
Naval Dockyards and shipbuilding units. Specialisation in Naval
Architecture, which deals with warship design and construction,
is another attractive career option. Engineer officers are trained
at the Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji, Lonavla, near
Pune.
Electrical Officer
As an Electrical Officer, you will deal with computer
based or computer-aided weapon systems, missile systems, underwater
weapons, underwater weapons, radars and radio communication equipment
and ensure that all these sensitive and complex equipment are dept
operational at peak efficiency. Electrical Officers are trained
at INS Valsura near Jamnagar and INS Shivaji.
Education Officer
The education and much of the training requirements
or the Navy range from general academic studies to the latest technical
innovations. A rewarding profession where career advancement of
Naval Officers and sailors would be your responsibility.
Diving Officer
The particular challenging specialization wherein
being in the parent professional arm with its sub-specialisation
like Gunnery, Navigation, Anti submarine warfare or be it Logistics,
Hydro, Aviation etc. one can become a Ship's driver. Alternately,
one may opt to become a Diving Cadre Officer wherein one would be
required to undertake a Clearance Diving Officers course and/or
a Marine Commando course. Diving Officers jobs range from underwater
inspection and repair of ships to defense of our maritime assets.
Life in the Navy is rich, rewarding, gorgeous and
always with an excitement involving new challenges each day.
