CAREER IN ITeS (IT enabled Services)
Any activity carried out based on
the application of Information Technology could be termed
as IT Enabled Service (ITeS). In other words IT Enabled
Services cover the entire range of services which exploit
information technology for empowering an organization
with improved efficiency or a type of service which
may not be possible to be rendered cost effectively
without IT.
The activity could be internal to
the organisation i.e. meant to increase the operational
efficiency through work force residing within the organisation
or could be outsourced. The outsourced or cross-border
IT enabled services is now receiving greater attention
as this category of ITeS has a great potential for growth
and contribution towards employment opportunities in
India.
Often found that there is a tendency to go wrong while

are expected to touch $53 billion by the end of 2008.
And roughly about 300,000 people every year and would
be employing two million people by 2008.

A study by India's software association, NASSCOM, indicates
that this sector has the potential to create more than
one million additional jobs by 2008.
The Department of Management Studies at IIT Delhi,
which recently saw the placements of the 2005 batch,
that out of 48 students 26 are accepting offers from
IT and ITeS companies. The major recruiters were IBM,
Infosys, Patni Computers, HCL Technology, Wipro Polaris
Software and Eclerx. The average salary offered was
Rs. 6.63 laks to 12.5 lakh.
This year IT and ITeS companies have recruited close
to 30 per cent students of IMI. Students have been offered
positions in areas like the marketing of services, development
of softeware and iCustomer Relationship Management.
